Advancing Trust in Communications: iconectiv’s Next Chapter
Trust is the foundation of modern communications. It is what enables consumers to answer calls confidently, enterprises to engage customers securely and regulators to maintain the integrity of national numbering systems. With iconectiv’s next chapter with Koch Equity Development (KED), we are strengthening that trust. Here is what it means for the industry.
Koch Equity Development’s (KED) Acquisition of iconectiv
In 2024 KED signed an agreement to acquire iconectiv and the sale was completed on August 22, 2025. KED previously invested in the communications market when it acquired Transaction Network Services, Inc. (TNS), an industry leader in call authentication and robocall mitigation services, in 2021. Beginning January 1, 2026, KED will transition certain iconectiv platforms to TNS while three solutions will remain under iconectiv.
What stays the same at iconectiv: neutrality, security and service
iconectiv will remain the neutral, trusted steward for the following critical components of the U.S. telecommunications framework that require independence and transparency:
- Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA) for the U.S. NPAC
- Secure Telephone Identity Policy Administrator (STI-PA) for STIR/SHAKEN-based caller ID authentication
- Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) Numbering Directory provider for iTRS
For these platforms, the iconectiv mission is unchanged: uphold the highest standards of neutrality, operational excellence and security, while continuing to partner closely with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and industry stakeholders. iconectiv will continue to follow the Code of Conduct that has guided its work since the company took over as the LNPA.
For customers of iconectiv (LNPA, STI-PA, iTRS) that means:
- No change to mission, service levels or neutrality standards
- Ongoing investment in security, resilience and operational performance
For regulators and industry influencers, iconectiv’s neutral, transparent role in the U.S. communications industry remains intact, with the same governance rigor, auditability and operational excellence.
What is changing: aligning talent across teams to create better customer experiences
All iconectiv commercial platforms other than LNPA, STI-PA, and iTRS will transition to TNS effective January 1, 2026. This allows:
- Access to a broader product portfolio across voice, messaging, fraud mitigation and network intelligence
- Deeper resources to accelerate innovation and meet emerging needs
- Seamless integration with continuity of service, operational and security excellence, and engagement with familiar teams
Why This Is Good for the Ecosystem
This alignment supports a mission shared by both companies: enabling trust by providing access to critical communications information simply, seamlessly and securely. Independently, iconectiv and TNS will:
- Accelerate growth and innovation in numbering, identity and trusted communications
- Strengthen defenses against fraud through complimentary capabilities
- Safeguard neutrality where industry and public interest require it
