Juan Carlos Ortiz, Principal of Corporate Business Development at iconectiv, spoke at a Network Media Group webinar during Connect(X), where he shared insights on the future of BEAD-funded broadband deployment. As the program moves from planning to execution, he emphasized the need for oversight and consistent tracking of how funds are used.

Ortiz highlighted the value of a real-time infrastructure registry to log asset deployments, network locations and performance metrics. This kind of system would improve transparency, streamline audits and support accountability. He also pointed to iconectiv’s experience managing standardized infrastructure data as a model for the industry.

The panel also included Blane Boynton of Intelsat and Bryan Darr of Ookla, who discussed technology strategies and policy considerations for building resilient broadband networks.
